The Targeting Grammar Activity Book Series is a program for teaching grammar and punctuation to primary school students using a well-tested developmental continuum. It follows a carefully developed scope and sequence that provides comprehensive instruction, enabling all students to become skilled communicators.
Each book delivers basic instruction on grammar conventions appropriate to the year level. The activities provide a step-by-step process towards achieving knowledge and understanding of the elements of grammar and their practical application. The books are divided into six sections that cover the following areas of study: Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Verbs, Adverbs and Sentences. Each section includes definitions, explanations, examples, and activities for students to practise and consolidate their knowledge and understanding of grammar in reading and writing. A removable answer section is included.

The Targeting Grammar Teacher's Guide: Lower Primary parallels the work in the Targeting Grammar Activity Books 1 and 2. It is divided into the same six areas of study (Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives, Verbs, Adverbs, and Sentences) and contains the following elements to support teaching:
★ Essentials — a summary of each concept to enable explicit instruction
★Introduction — ideas to introduce and demonstrate each concept to the whole class
★ Exploration — activities to engage the whole class in exploring the area of study
★ Revision — supplementary photocopiable worksheets to use as homework; individual practice; whole class activities; targeted practice for students experiencing difficulty
★ Assessment — worksheets to assess each student’s level of understanding
★ Games and Activities — to photocopy and laminate for use as a fun way to practise and reinforce grammar skills
★ The Spelling Connection— a concise and useful reference that shows the relationship between spelling and grammar
★ Punctuation Glossary — a comprehensive glossary explaining how punctuation marks are used in writing.
